A Career in Food Security: Vulnerability Assessment and Tools Implementation
USAID Program Manager, FEWS NET
Thursday, March 7, 2013
9:00am - 10:00am
Global awareness of world-wide hunger has continued to grow, in light of recent prominent famines. Along with the increased amount of attention on famines and extreme hunger comes the expectation to change the cycle. The ability to anticipate, evaluate, and create change for vulnerable countries is imperative. This Careers in Development session will feature Mr. Gary Eilerts, who will discuss his experiences with Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) and key practices in tackling food insecurity.
Mr. Eilerts currently serves as Program Manager for U.S. Agency for International Development’s FEWS NET. In this capacity, he manages the coverage of 21 food-insecure countries, and remotely monitors 11 others. Mr. Eilert’s background includes monitoring and assessment practices, implementing climate change efforts, and evaluating the impact of markets and trade in food-insecure countries.
Please join us for this exclusive opportunity to have a roundtable discussion with Gary Eilerts, an admired expert in the food security field.
A light breakfast will be available.
