Mr. Mark Lynas, British Author and environmental activist focused on climate change

Introduction and Moderation by:

Ms. Johanna Nesseth Tuttle, Director, Global Food Security Project, CSIS

An author, journalist and environmental activist, Mark Lynas recently made headlines for his changed stance on GMO technology. In addition to publishing several well-respected books on climate change, Mr. Lynas has long been known as an organizer and passionate defender of the anti-GMO food movement.

In January 2013, Mr. Lynas took the stage at the Oxford Farming Conference and announced that he had changed his views after reviewing scientific evidence from both sides, concluding that he "was completely wrong to oppose GMOs."

Ms. Johanna Nesseth Tuttle will moderate a conversation with Mr. Lynas regarding his career in environmental activism, his decision to become a proponent of GMO food, and his views on the challenges and obstacles facing the field's supporters.
