The National People’s Congress (NPC) adjourned in March and left a series of decisions, pronouncements, and indicators as to China’s policy directions. Developments since the NPC and evolving stories about high-profile personalities have drawn unprecedented media attention and raised questions regarding political stability in a transition year in China. How do we evaluate these moves and what might they portend for China and US-China relations?
Long-time “China hand” and current China resident Frank Lavin will share his insights as to what we can learn from the NPC and the political developments that have followed in its wake. He will offer a near-term prognosis for the implications of these developments on political stability, economic management, and foreign policy.
