China in the American Political Imagination

CSIS brought together scholars, journalists, and government officials to contemplate how history, politics, the press, and how the roles of American values, and ideology have shaped, and continue to shape, U.S. perceptions of China. This one-day conference explored the evolution of American perceptions and images of China through modern history and how these attitudes continue to inform U.S. policy toward the "Middle Kingdom."
