China's Anti-Secession Law
A panel of Asia experts analyzed the implications of China's anti-secession law for cross-Straight relations and for U.S. interests in the region on March 21. "The passage of this law is unlikely to advance the cause of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait," said CSIS Senior Associate Bonnie Glaser. "Instead, it may well instigate new tensions. Beijing should concentrate its efforts on building...positive momentum...rather than take steps that may undermine cross-Strait stability."
