Over the past decade, six of the world’s ten fastest-growing economies were in Africa and yet, sub-Saharan Africa still accounts for a nominal percentage of U.S. trade. In the last decade, African economies have been buoyed by high commodity prices, steady progress in democratization and good governance, an emerging middle class, and a rapidly expanding working-age population.
