Combating Barriers to Investment in Africa

Friday, April 13, 2012 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Center for Strategic and International Studies1800 K Street, NWWashington DC, 20006

Over the past decade, six of the world’s ten fastest-growing economies were in Africa and yet, sub-Saharan Africa still accounts for a nominal percentage of U.S. trade. In the last decade, African economies have been buoyed by high commodity prices, steady progress in democratization and good governance, an emerging middle class, and a rapidly expanding working-age population.  Please join the CSIS Africa Program as we welcome Mr. Omari Issa, CEO of the Investment Climate Facility for Africa, as he discusses how investors can harness these positive trends while combating remaining investment barriers like underdeveloped markets, poor infrastructure, and negative perceptions of the continent.
