The CSIS Freeman Chair in China Studies is pleased to host the co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional U.S.-China Working Group, Representatives Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Charles Boustany (R-LA), for a conversation on the view from Congress concerning the forward trajectory of U.S.-China relations in the aftermath of the California meeting between Presidents Obama and Xi. CSIS Freeman Chair Christopher Johnson will moderate the session, which will touch on the numerous pressing challenges confronting the bilateral relationship. Topics of discussion will include Congressional perspectives on the U.S. rebalance to Asia, China’s role in the Asia Pacific region, cybersecurity, bilateral and regional trade issues, efforts to improve the quality of bilateral defense ties, and the prospects for enhanced bilateral cooperation on regional and global hotspots such as the Korean Peninsula and the Middle East. We hope you can join us for what promises to be a very rich discussion with two of Washington’s leading advocates of healthy and productive U.S.-China ties.
