March 9, 2018 • 10:00 – 11:00 am EST

CSIS-Pertamina Banyan Tree Leadership Forum

We are pleased to invite you to the CSIS-Pertamina Banyan Tree Leadership Forum with Senator the Hon Matthew Canavan, Australian Federal Minister for Resources and Northern Australia. Minister Canavan will join us to discuss the state of Australia’s resources and energy market, opportunities for engagement between Australia and the U.S., and Australia’s role as a net energy exporter in the Indo-Pacific.

Minister Canavan was first elected to Senate for Queensland in 2013 and sworn in as Minister for Resources and Northern Australia in July of 2016. Prior to 2013, Minister Canavan served in a variety of positions in both the public and private sector. After attending the University of Queensland, he served as economist with the Australian Productivity Commission where he quickly rose to the level of director. Minister Canavan also spent time as a senior executive with KPMG, where he provided advice on economic and financial aspects of large scale infrastructure investments. From 2010 to 2013, Minister Canavan served as the chief of staff for then Senator Barnaby Joyce, managing the political office and providing strategic advice on policy.

This event was made possible with support from Pertamina and general funding to CSIS.
