Tuesday, June 27, 2023 4:00 am - 5:00 am AEDT

On March 13, 2023, U.S. president Joe Biden, Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese, and UK prime minister Rishi Sunak met in San Diego, California, to announce the path forward for AUKUS—a trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States that was first established in September 2021. AUKUS is intended to enhance the defense capabilities of all three nations, empower America's closest allies, and ultimately strengthen stability in the Indo-Pacific region. AUKUS is also a complex multi-decade endeavor facing many challenges to its successful implementation.

To unpack the strategic and military significance of AUKUS, please join CSIS Senior Adviser and Australia Chair Charles Edel on Monday, June 26 at 2pm EST for a discussion with Dr. Kurt Campbell and Admiral Michael Gilday

CSIS's Australia Chair conducts independent policy research aimed at strengthening U.S.-Australia relations. The Chair is endowed through the generosity of Pratt Industries.
