Please join the CSIS International Security Program as GEN Jacqueline Van Ovost, Commander of U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), speaks to Dr. Seth G. Jones, CSIS Senior Vice President and Director of the International Security Program, about the future and mission of USTRANSCOM. They will discuss the challenges of supporting U.S. operations worldwide, the diversity of organizations under her command, and the role of USTRANSCOM in strategic competition.
General Jacqueline Van Ovost is the commander of USTRANSCOM. Prior to this appointment, she was commander, Air Mobility Command, with other prior assignments in both the Joint Staff and Headquarters, Air Force. An accomplished pilot, GEN Van Ovost has over 4,200 flight hours in over 30 types, including the C-32A, C-17A, C-141B, KC-135R, and KC-46A. She is a graduate of the Air Force Academy and holds a master’s degrees in engineering from California State University and Military Arts and Sciences and Strategic Studies from the Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base. Her decorations and awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Defense Superior Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, and the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster.
