A Conversation with Venezuelan Interim First Lady Fabiana Rosales de Guaidó

Wednesday, March 27, 2019 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
CSIS Headquarters, 2nd Floor
Please join the CSIS Americas program for a discussion with Fabiana Rosales, wife of Venezuelan Interim President Juan Guaidó and First Lady of Venezuela, to discuss Venezuela’s political, economic, and humanitarian crisis. According to Articles 233, 333, and 350 of the Venezuelan Constitution and within his power as president of the National Assembly, Juan Guaidó assumed the presidency of Venezuela on a provisional basis earlier this year. More than 50 countries, including the United States and the major Latin American countries, have recognized Guaidó as the only legitimate president in Venezuela.

During this event, we will discuss with Rosales de Guaidó what else the international community can do to help Venezuelans restore their democracy. Introductory remarks will be made by Venezuelan Ambassador to the United States Carlos Vecchio, Special Representative to the OAS Gustavo Tarre, and Special Envoy to the First Lady Roland Carreño. The presentations will be followed by a moderated discussion between the First Lady and Moises Rendon, associate director of the CSIS Americas Program and Venezuela expert.

The event will be held in Spanish; English translation headsets will be made available.

All members of the credentialed press that wish to attended please RSVP to Emma Colbran at ecolbran@csis.org, kindly specify if you will have a camera crew.

This event is made possible in collaboration with the Venezuelan Embassy to the United States and with the Venezuelan Mission to the Organization of American States (OAS).
