COP Stocktake: Inside Perspectives on the Global Climate Conference

November 16, 2023 • 4:00 – 4:30 pm EST

Global leaders will gather in Dubai for the 28th United Nations Conference of the Parties. Heads of state, diplomats, climate experts, and environmental activists will take stock of global climate efforts and work to establish new commitments and strategies for future progress. Fossil fuels, food, land use, and climate resilience will be among the key topics discussed. This makes it a pivotal opportunity to chart a resilient path forward for comprehensive global climate action.

The CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program's "COP Stocktake: Inside Perspectives on the Global Climate Conference" series will delve into the context, themes, and factors that will ultimately determine the success or failure of COP28.

The first episode will feature Jon B. Alterman Senior Vice President, Zbigniew Brzezinski Chair in Global Security and Geostrategy, and Director, Middle East Program, CSIS, and Joseph Majkut Director, Energy Security and Climate Change Program, CSIS. They will discuss the geopolitical context surrounding COP, the UAE's goals for hosting COP, and the Middle East perspective on climate talks.

This event is made possible by general funding to CSIS and the CSIS Energy Security & Climate Change Program.
