CORDS at 50: A Model of Civil-Military Collaboration?

Wednesday, December 13, 2017 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
CSIS Headquarters

Fifty years ago, President Lyndon Johnson authorized the Civil Operations and Revolutionary Development Support (CORDS) program in Vietnam. Integrating civil and military organizations within a military chain of command, the program became an archetype for civil-military collaboration, but one that has been controversial and difficult to replicate. Please join us as three distinguished CORDS veterans discuss the program’s history and its ongoing relevance.

Featuring
Stephen B. Young
Former USAID Foreign Service Officer and Author of "The Theory and Practice of Associative Power: CORDS in the Villages of Vietnam, 1967-1972"
Harry Bader
Acting Executive Director USAID Global Development Lab
Bruce Kinsey
