CSIS-Chey Conference: Cooperation on Scientific Innovation, Supply Chains, and Geopolitical Risk in Northeast Asia
Global supply chains have been under tremendous stress under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and mounting geopolitical tensions. These supply chains both shape and are shaped by scientific innovation and their health and management are critical to understanding geopolitical risk in Northeast Asia.
Please join the CSIS Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group on June 9th and 10th for the public keynote and expert discussion sessions of the CSIS-Chey Conference on Cooperation on Scientific Innovation, Supply Chains, and Geopolitical Risk in Northeast Asia. The Keynote Session will feature welcoming remarks from CSIS’ Dr. Seth Jones and Ambassador In-kook Park from the Chey Institute of Advanced Studies, and a keynote address from Dr. David Honey, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. The high-level discussion sessions will delve into how the United States and South Korea can jointly address concerns regarding the specific supply chains raised in U.S. Executive Order 14017 and the May 2021 U.S.-ROK Leader’s Joint Statement: those for semiconductors, high-capacity batteries, strategic and critical materials, and biotechnology. Our dialogue will include substantial participation by senior leaders and experts from the Republic of Korea.
