The CSIS-Pertamina Banyan Tree Leadership Forum with Ambassador Vinh and Ambassador Kritenbrink

The CSIS Southeast Asia Program is pleased to present the CSIS-Pertamina Banyan Tree Leadership Forum with Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink and Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh.The two ambassadors will discuss the status of U.S.-Vietnam relations, and how the two countries can enhance the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership.

Ambassador Kritenbrink has served as U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam since October 2017. He has completed multiple assignments related to Asia. Most recently, he was Senior Advisor for North Korea Policy at the Department of State. Prior to that, he was Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the National Security Council from 2015 until 2017, where he worked extensively on Vietnam and oversaw the negotiation of two Joint Statements regarding the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership.

Ambassador Vinh has served as Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States since 2014. He is accredited with the title of Senior Ambassador, the highest rank for a Vietnamese career diplomat. From 2011 to 2014, Ambassador Vinh served as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of relations with countries in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific, and as Vietnam’s senior official to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Prior to that, he held the position of Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2008 to 2011 and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2008.
