The CSIS Southeast Asia Program is pleased to present the CSIS-Pertamina Banyan Tree Leadership Forum featuring Malcolm Turnbull, 29th Prime Minister of Australia. Mr. Turnbull will discuss Trade and Security in the Indo-Pacific - lessons from Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP-11) and the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).

Malcolm Turnbull served as Australia’s 29th Prime Minister from 2015 to 2018. He was first elected to Federal Parliament as the Member for Wentworth in 2004.  He held a number of parliamentary positions including Minister for Communications, Minister for Environment and Water Resources, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. Prior to entering public life, Mr Turnbull had successful careers in journalism, law and business.  He has been responsible for the establishment and success of many Australian businesses and a determined supporter of Australian technology.  He co-founded one of Australia’s first internet service providers, OzEmail, in 1994. Mr Turnbull graduated from Sydney University with a BA LLB.  He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and completed a further law degree at Oxford. He is married to Lucy and has two adult children, Alex and Daisy, and three grandchildren, Jack, Alice and Isla.
