Czech Speaker of Parliament Discusses Transatlantic Relations
On September 12, 2005, the CSIS East Europe Project hosted a policy forum featuring Lubomir Zaoralek, Speaker of the Lower Chamber of the Czech parliament, accompanied by His Excellency Martin Palous, Czech ambassador to the United States. Mr. Zaoralek discussed Prague’s evolving foreign and security priorities in context of a renewed transatlantic partnership and Czech participation in the global fight against terrorism. Since its accession to both the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union, the Czech Republic has been firmly anchored into Euro-Atlantic institutions and now envisages its role as one that can strengthen the transatlantic alliance.
