Efficient Government in a Functioning State: Key to Economic Development

On October 8-9, 2007 the CSIS New European Democracies Project held a two-day international conference entitled Efficient Government in a Functioning State: Key to Economic Development in Prishtina, Kosovo. At this important juncture of Kosovo’s development, the objective of the conference was to help accelerate the pace of public and private sector efforts toward good governance, economic development, and regional cooperation. The event assembled a prominent group of policymakers, experts, and business leaders from the United States, the European Union and the West Balkan region to generate recommendations for fostering development in all countries in South East Europe on their path to Euroatlantic integration.
