Electric Power Sector In Iraq

On August 20, CSIS convened a seminar on the electric power sector in Iraq. Four main issues were addressed: the interconnectedness of restoring power to the overall success of the reconstruction effort; the current electric power situation in Iraq and near and longer terms plans for meeting demand; an industry view on how power can be restored while rebuilding the energy infrastructure; and the obstacles faced in reconstructing the power sector as well as potential financing options.
