The CSIS Energy Security & Climate Change Program is pleased to invite you to a conversation with Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight at the European Commission and Dr. Ernest Moniz, President & CEO of the Energy Futures Initiative.

VP Šefčovič is also responsible for the European Union’s relations with non-EU Western countries and leads the Commission’s work on the European Battery Alliance. Most recently, he has been appointed to the work of the EU Energy Platform to secure joint natural gas purchasing. This includes high-level engagements with international gas suppliers. Dr. Moniz served as United States Secretary of Energy from May 21, 2013, to January 19, 2017. Before joining the Department of Energy, Dr. Moniz was the Cecil and Ida Green Professor of Physics and Engineering Systems at MIT.

This conversation will focus on improving energy security through European joint action and collaboration with the United States, as well as how to develop mutually beneficial clean energy and clean tech supply chains without sacrificing trans-Atlantic cooperation.

Moderated by Joseph Majkut, director of the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program.

This event is made possible by General support to CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program.
