EU-U.S. Data Flows and Privacy Shield

Estimated to be worth 272 billion euros and able to employ 7.4 million people, the EU data economy is an essential component of economic growth, job creation, and innovation. The EU is also a key U.S. partner for transnational criminal justice cooperation. The European Union continues to engage with the United States to strengthen transatlantic data flows under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and other mechanisms and to ensure high standards of privacy protection, while tackling new challenges online.
