As a fellow democracy, Taiwan will be holding its next presidential election in 2024. The election outcome could have a substantial impact on not only domestic politics in Taiwan, but also the trajectory of cross-Strait dynamics and U.S.-Taiwan relations. What are the major topics or issues impacting Taiwan’s next presidential election? How might the election results impact Taiwan’s direction? How might it impact U.S.-Taiwan relations?

On Thursday, April 20th from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm EDT the CSIS China Power Project hosted a virtual fireside chat with Dr. Ko Wen-je, Chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) and former Mayor of Taipei. Dr. Bonny Lin, Director of the China Power Project and Senior Fellow for Asian Security, will moderate the discussion.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
