Appointed as the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for Human Rights in July 2012, Mr. Stavros Lambrinidis is the EU's first thematic Special Representative who is mandated to enhance the effectiveness and visibility of EU human rights policy. The Human Rights Initiative at CSIS is honored to host Mr. Lambrinidis for a keynote address and armchair discussion on the biggest foreign policy and human rights challenges facing the European Union. Mr. Lambrinidis will describe the European Union's engagement on human rights, including the recent adoption of the EU Strategic Framework and Action Plan on human rights and democracy.
