The Future of Army Vertical Lift

August 24, 2022 • 1:00 – 2:00 pm EDT

As the Army looks beyond the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and to a future of competing against highly capable state actors the service is rethinking its approach to vertical lift. The future of vertical lift will feature bold engineering innovations, including Modular Open System Approaches, that the Army believes will enable its aviators to have a decisive edge at far greater ranges than ever before.

Please join the CSIS Defense- Industrial Initiatives Group at CSIS Headquarters on Wednesday, August 24th at 1:00pm ET for a conversation between Major General Walter Rugen and CSIS’s Dr. Cynthia R. Cook on the Army’s Future Vertical Lift Program. Maj. Gen. Rugen commands the Army’s Future Vertical Lift Cross Functional Team, which among other priorities is seeking to chart a way forward for kinetic UAS for the Army and introduce two new aircraft to the Army’s Fleet: a replacement for the OH-58 Kiowa and UH-60 Blackhawk.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
