This event is part of the CSIS The Future of Quantum series to discuss and raise awareness of the vast opportunities for technological change quantum will create, while helping the private and public sector frame the policy agenda.

Quantum has the potential to drive economic growth and bring innovation to a range of industries, from advancing our national defense to revolutionizing the foundations of computing. With the potential benefits of quantum, there are also significant risks, such as the ability for a quantum computer to break much of the public-key encryption used across the world. Recent initiatives, like the Executive Order on Enhancing the National Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee and the National Security Memorandum on Promoting United States Leadership in Quantum Computing While Mitigating Risks to Vulnerable Cryptographic Systems demonstrate ways in which the government is seeking to balance the opportunities for technological change with the proposed security risks of quantum applications.

Join CSIS for the next event in the Future of Quantum Series to discuss the government's approach to promoting and safeguarding against innovations in quantum. This event will include a panel discussion featuring Jonah Force Hill, Director for Cybersecurity and Emerging Technology Policy at the National Security Council and Charles Tahan, Assistant Director for Quantum Information Science and the Director of the National Quantum Coordination Office, Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).
