Of Geckos and Crocodiles: Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Efforts

Monday, November 23, 2009 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Center for Strategic and International Studies 1800 K Street, NW Washington DC, 20006

Michael Buehler, of Columbia University's Weatherhead East Asian Institute, discussed the recent controversy surrounding Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), including the indictment of its former chair for murder, the charges of corruption lodged (perhaps for political purposes) against its deputy chairmen, and the position of President Yudhoyono on the charges and on corruption in general.  He will also evaluate the country's recent anti-corruption efforts and the challenges that lie ahead.
