Please join us on Friday, July 7 for an important conversation with The Rt Hon Sir Michael Fallon MP
, Secretary of State for Defense of the United Kingdom
, on the ways in which the United States and United Kingdom can maximize the benefits of bilateral and multilateral cooperation to combat current and future threats. The UK’s Strategic Defense and Security Review (SDSR) of 2015 outlined methods to counter the growing complexity and diversity of geopolitical challenges, including terrorist attacks, competition between states, cyber and information warfare, and an erosion of the international rules-based system. These threats have tested the UK directly and the transatlantic community as a whole. In response, the United States and the United Kingdom have deployed forces to NATO’s eastern flank as part of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence to deter Russian aggression and are working together to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Looking ahead, where does the UK see its greatest security threats and how are these evolving? In what ways can the United States and United Kingdom strengthen their special defense and intelligence sharing relationship?
