Global Space Agenda: Space Tourism Regulations
The Global Space Agenda hosted a discussion on space tourism regulations.
The FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation is the portion of the FAA responsible for addressing spaceflight. The Office addresses the commercial space transportation industry, encourages and promotes private sector space activities, licenses the operation of non-federal spaceports. With the Commercial Space Launch Amendments Act of 2004, the Office has established a regulatory regime for reusable suborbital rockets: the mainstay of the emerging space tourism industry. These regulations are now forming the national and international basis for the emerging private-sector spaceflight industry, and will guide developments here and around the world for years to come.
