Gracelin Baskaran & Assistant Secretary Geoffrey R. Pyatt's Joint Address at IMARC 2024

Gracelin Baskaran, Director of the CSIS Critical Minerals Security Program, and Geoffrey R. Pyatt, Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, were invited to deliver a joint virtual address at the 2024 International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC), which took place from October 21-23, 2024, in Sydney, Australia. 

Their discussion focused on how the United States and its international allies and partners can work together to build the resilient minerals supply chains needed for economic competitiveness and national and energy security. Topics included the mineral needs of the modern global economy and energy transition, the threat posed by China's dominance of global mineral supply chains, the U.S.-Australia minerals partnership, the role of government in supporting the mining industry and incentivizing investment, the need for enhanced minerals diplomacy, and more.
