Guiana Shield: A Zone of Southern Caribbean Integration and Sustainable Development - Guyana, Suriname and French Guyane
Please join the CSIS Americas Program for a public discussion on Wednesday, November 29 from 9-11 AM examining the concept of the "Guiana Shield" and regional integration within this sub-region of the Americas. Speakers will discuss the potential impact of enhanced integration between Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana on the level of sustainable economic development within the region, and provide an analytical perspective on the various economic and political aspects influencing integration within the Southern Caribbean.
The discussion will be led by two panels of experts, including External Affairs Advisor in the Territorial Collectivity of French Guyane Jean-Yves Lacascade; Professors Percy Hintzen and Randolph Persaud of Florida International University (FIU) and American University (AU) respectively; former Permanent Representative of Suriname to the United Nations Ambassador Henry MacDonald; Former Field Office Director in Guyana for The Carter Center, Jason Calder; and CSIS Senior Associate Scott B. MacDonald. CSIS Senior Associates, David E. Lewis and Georges A. Fauriol, will moderate.
