Haiti and the Global Food Crisis

CSIS Global Health Policy Center hosted a roundtable discussion with Myrta Kaulard, country director and head of World Food Program operations in Haiti. Ms. Kaulard discussed the status of food security in Haiti in the wake of political turmoil, a series of devastating hurricanes, and the global recession.  

Ms. Kaulard has directed WFP operations in Haiti since 2008 and led the response to assists more than 700,000 people in the wake of Hurricanes Gustave, Hanna and Ike.  Ms. Kaulard has worked with WFP for 16 years, seven of which were in Africa. She has served as the Country Director of the Ivory Coast and Cuba, and served in key assignments in Iraq, Kosovo, and Burundi during the Burundi and Rwanda crises.
