India and Pakistan: Evolving Trade Ties - Transforming Relations?

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 3:15 pm - 4:30 pm
Fourth Floor Conference Room (4CR)Center for Strategic and International Studies1800 K Street, NWWashington DC, 20006

The recent visit by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to India and the prospect of a reciprocal visit by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later this year, along with a series of unprecedented trade and commerce initiatives between the two countries, are welcome steps toward improved relations.  In the just released CSIS Global Forecast 2012, Wadhwani Chair Karl Inderfurth and Visiting Fellow Amer Latif posit how the emphasis both governments have placed on enhancing trade cooperation could lead to transformational benefits.  Last year, CSIS held an event focusing on the prospects for private sector participation in this process, and we are now pleased to invite you to hear from three distinguished panelists on the current round of India-Pakistan trade ties and their regional implications.

With Remarks By:

Mr. R V Kanoria
Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce

and Industry (FICCI), President
Dr. Rajiv Kumar
FICCI, Secretary General

Dr. Mohsin Khan
Peterson Institute for International Economics, Senior Fellow

Moderated By:
