International Development and the Private Sector

In this Careers in Development session, Paula Feeney will discuss her extensive experience working with the private sector in international development. She will share her experience in marketing, recruiting, and brand building, as well as offer specific tips for professionals who wish to pursue a career in development today.

Paula Feeney currently serves as the Director of Marketing at Cardno Emerging Markets, which has a 40-year history of working in partnership with developing countries to deliver solutions for sustainable development. Ms. Feeney focuses on outreach and engagement with Cardno’s clients, business partners, and consultants, both in Washington and globally. Prior to joining Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd.'s predecessor firm in 2004, Ms. Feeney served 27 years in the U.S. Foreign Service in the U.S. Agency for International Development, including eight years in the Senior Foreign Service.

“Careers in Development” is a monthly series featuring U.S. senior-level government, multi-lateral and NGO officials who have worked in the field of development for at least twenty years. The series is aimed at young professionals who are interested in working in development and features speakers from a range of expertise, including humanitarian assistance, national security, and sector issues such as food security, health, and education. Through a roundtable discussion, each speaker offers remarks on their area of interest as well as their career path and influences along the way.
