Japan Chair Forum: DPJ's Vision on Domestic and Foreign Policy

Mr. Seiji Maehara, president of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) spoke at a Japan Chair Forum on December 8.

Mr. Seiji Maehara was elected as president of the DPJ this September.  A native of Kyoto, Mr. Maehara graduated from Kyoto University, Faculty of Law in 1987 and went on to the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management from 1987-1991.  He was then elected to office in 1991 to the Kyoto Prefectural Assembly, and was subsequently elected to the House of Representatives in 1993.  He is currently serving his 5th consecutive term.
