From Kiev to Cardiff: The Future of Northern European Defense Cooperation
In cooperation with the Norwegian Institute for Defense Studies (IFS) and the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), the CSIS Europe Program hosted an off-the-record, expert-level workshop to discuss the changing security environment in Europe. In advance of the September NATO Summit in Cardiff and in light of the ongoing security developments in Ukraine, the workshop examined Europe's new security environment, assessed NATO's collective defense response in Northern Europe, and addressed the regional implications of potentially new NATO capabilities initiatives, such as the Framework Nation Concept (FNC).
