Leadership and Character in Business
CSIS held an event to mark the establishment of the Abshire-Inamori Academy on Leadership, featuring Academy co-founders Kazuo Inamori, founder and chairman emeritus of the Kyocera Corporation and president of the Inamori Foundation, and David Abshire, co-founder of CSIS and president of the Center for the Study of the Presidency. The event opened with keynote addresses by Inamori and Abshire, both of whom remarked on the importance of character and creativity in leadership. "A true leader must be able to lead the group not with authority or power, but with philosophy and character," stated Inamori. Their addresses were followed by a panel discussion, featuring General Edward C. Meyer, USA (Ret.) and Carol Adelman of Movers and Shakespeares.
