The United States African Development Foundation (USADF) provides development grants to African organizations and enterprises that increase opportunities for marginalized communities in some of Africa's most challenging contexts. USADF's grants of up to $250,000 benefit marginalized groups in countries including Somalia, Mali, and Mauritania. Currently, USADF's portfolio affects an estimated 1,500,000 people in marginalized communities by providing them with the opportunity to engage in the national development process. Join us for a conversation with USADF President Shari Berenbach as she discusses ways in which USADF works with U.S. agencies, civil society actors, and the private sector to achieve development outcomes in Africa.

Shari Berenbach was named president of USADF on December 17, 2012. Previously, she was president and CEO of the Calvert Foundation, managing over $200 million in community investment assets raised from over 2000 private investors. Prior to joining the Calvert Foundation, Shari worked for the International Finance Corporation and held private sector positions at Citibank and Salomon Borthers. Shari serves on the boards of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Non-profit Advisory Committee and the Regional Association of Washington Grantmakers and is active in the Social Investment Forum.
