Millennium Development Goals Post-2015: The View from Africa

July 18, 2014 • 10:00 – 10:30 am EDT

Dr. Abdoulaye Dukule
Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Liberia on the UN-High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda
Head of Secretariat, African Union High Level Committee Post-2015

Please join us for a discussion of Africa's vision for development after 2015. Since 2000, Africa has made convincing strides towards several of the Millennium Development Goals. As the 2015 deadline approaches, however, a shift must be made from an exclusive focus on the MDGs to a post-2015 agenda.  In 2012, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon established a High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 UN Development Agenda co-chaired by Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.  Featuring Dr. Abdoulaye Dukule, Special Envoy of President Johnson Sirleaf to the UN High-Level Panel, and Head of Secretariat of the African Union High Level Committee Post-2015, this discussion will focus on the agreements reached by the African Union regarding the future of development on the continent.
