Dr. Karin will discuss the emergence and development of terrorist groups within Kazakhstan and how the terrorist threat has changed over the past two decades. He will present a thorough analysis of the incidence of terrorist attacks in Kazakhstan over the past few years and outline the operational capabilities, ideological characteristics, and funding sources of these groups, as well as provide a socio-demographic portrait of the leadership and rank-and-file membership. He will also put the threat Kazakhstan faces in a comparative context with its neighbors in Central Asia.
