The event will be webcast live from this page.

Please join the CSIS Americas Program for a virtual discussion on the future of political leadership in the Americas.

Good leadership is an essential component of quality governance and policy. Today’s political leaders are surrounded by a team of advisors in various areas including economics, security, and the environment. However, they do not possess the necessary support system or skills to perform in the public eye or to learn how to maintain their physical and mental health during their term(s), among other crucial matters. An expansion of a political leader’s “toolbox” that includes additional resources for personal management and care would significantly improve these leaders’ abilities to make comprehensive political decisions, set the stage for a long-term leadership structure, and allow for a more sustainable lifestyle for those in highly demanding roles.

This event will examine innovative lessons for leaders – primarily political leaders – in the Americas, moving away from conventional training. Panelists will focus on the nature of leadership in the current context of the Western Hemisphere and discuss ways to assist leaders take on the challenges they face more effectively.

This event was made possible through general support to CSIS.
