Niger Delta Partnership Initiative

Part of the Chevron Forum on Development
Tuesday, July 26, 2011 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Center for Strategic and International Studies1800 K Street, NWWashington DC, 20006

On Tuesday, July 26, 2011 the Project on U.S. Leadership in Development hosted Mr. Dennis Flemming, Project Director of the Niger Delta Partnership Initiative (NDPI) Foundation, for a small round-table discussion.

Launched in November 2010, NDPI is an initiative supported by Chevron Corporation to spur innovative and dynamic partnerships in Delta region of Nigeria. NDPI’s work centers on four core areas: economic development, capacity building, peace-building, and analysis and advocacy. Mr. Flemming discussed pro-poor economic development and the potential for multi-sector partnerships based on a recent assessment of the regional market. Simon Lowes, Chevron’s manager for community engagement, provided opening remarks on the evolution of Chevron’s development partnership strategy.
