Featuring: Fereidun Fesharaki, Chairman of FACTS Global Energy
Tuesday, October 15, 2013 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

The CSIS Energy and National Security Program was pleased to host Fereidun Fesharaki, Chairman of FACTS Global Energy to provide some insights into oil market trends and to present his near-term energy forecast. A wide range of factors, such as geopolitical risks and  new supplies, are in play that will shape the short and long term view of global oil markets.  As a leading expert on the global oil market, Fereidun Fesharaki is uniquely positioned to provide a comprehensive picture of supply and demand trends, potential market disruptions, and near-term challenges facing oil markets. David Pumphrey, Co-Director and Senior Fellow with the CSIS Energy and National Security Program, moderated.

Fereidun Fesharaki is chairman of FACTS Global Energy (FGE), which includes FACTS Inc., a leading consulting group focusing on oil and gas markets east of the Suez, and Energy Market Consultants Ltd., a leading consulting company covering the European and U.S. markets, operating from offices in Hawaii, Singapore, London, Beijing, Dubai, Perth, and Yokohama. Dr. Fesharaki is recognized worldwide for his pioneering work in oil and gas market analysis and in Asia-Pacific and Middle East energy markets. Born in Iran, he received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Surrey in England, after which he completed a visiting fellowship at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies. In the late 1970s, he attended the OPEC Ministerial Conferences in his capacity as energy adviser to the prime minister of Iran. He is a senior fellow and heads energy-related research at the East-West Center, which he joined in 1979
