Gov. Keiichi Inamine of Okinawa (left) discussed the evolving relationship between the island and U.S. military bases at a March 15 forum hosted by the CSIS Japan Chair. The Okinawa facilities are central to the U.S. deployment strategy in the region. Inamine explored how a good working relationship between the bases and the people of Okinawa is essential for their efficient operation.
