Online Event: After China's National People's Congress: What's New? What's Next?

June 1, 2020 • 9:00 – 10:00 am EDT

After a long delay, China's National People's Congress will finally convene beginning May 22nd amidst a dramatically slowing economy and rapidly deteriorating U.S.-China relations. On its agenda is a long list of pressing issues, including supporting a domestic economic recovery, upgrading its public health capabilities, and approving the central government budget.

To unpack the policy and legislative outcomes of the meeting, please join the CSIS China Power Project, Freeman Chair in China Studies, and Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics on June 1st for a discussion of the implications of the NPC for China and the U.S.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
