The U.S. Department of Defense Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) is tasked with operationalizing AI for the department and armed services. Chief of Strategy and Policy, Mark Beall, joined Brian Katz and Lindsey Sheppard for a discussion on the JAIC’s progress on international partnerships and workforce development in support of its mission.

Mr. Mark Beall is the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center’s (JAIC) Chief of Strategy and Policy. In this role, he leads JAIC’s technical policy, strategy and communications, international and interagency affairs, and enterprise AI talent. Prior to this, Mr. Beall served as a Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff focusing on great power competition, emerging technology, and military innovation. Previously, Mr. Beall served in a number of regional and functional roles in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy focusing on the Middle East and South Asia, homeland defense, security cooperation, and counterterrorism. Mr. Beall is also the founder of the Burke-Paine Society, a 501(c) educational non-profit focused on civics and cross-partisan dialogue.
