A Conversation with German State Secretary Benedikt Zimmer and General (Ret.) Ben Hodges

Please join us for a discussion with German Deputy Secretary of Defense Benedikt Zimmer and Ben Hodges, former Commanding General, U.S. Army Europe, on Germany’s current and future role in European and international security and defense cooperation. Deputy Secretary of Defense Zimmer will discuss Germany’s foreign policy priorities and defense modernization plans, as well as the agenda for its EU presidency through December 2020. Deputy Secretary Zimmer and General Hodges will also discuss the impact of German forces deployed along NATO’s eastern flank, the future of NATO-EU cooperation and the EU’s security and defense capabilities, and the implications for German and NATO forces in Afghanistan as the U.S. plans to drawdown its forces to 4,500 by the end of the year.
