Online Event: A Conversation with Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of UNAIDS

Wednesday, May 6, 2020 9:00 am - 9:45 am
CSIS Headquarters

Ms. Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of UNAIDS since November 1, 2019, now faces the most tenuous period of the HIV response since the earliest days of the outbreak. Even prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 was set to be a pivotal year for UNAIDS with the first set of Fast Track goals coming due. Now the Covid-19 pandemic has brought the global economy to a halt, public health efforts are converging around the Covid-19 response and redirecting limited resources, and the new pandemic poses a special threat to vulnerable and marginalized populations, including those living with or at heightened risk of HIV infection.

Please join us on Wednesday, May 6, from 9:00-9:45am, for a conversation with Ms. Byanyima, who will outline her priorities as UNAIDS’ Executive Director and her thoughts on the future of the HIV global response amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

This event is made possible by the generous support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
