Online Event: Disinformation and Political Warfare in the Age of Covid-19
Please join the CSIS Transnational Threats Project and Europe Program on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 10:00am to discuss disinformation and political warfare in an era of great power competition. The panel will examine how countries have conducted disinformation and political warfare in the past—including “active measures” during the Cold War—and how they are doing it today. Among the most salient issues today is how countries like Russia, China, and the United States have waged information warfare in response to Covid-19.
Seth Jones, CSIS Harold Brown Chair, Director of the Transnational Threats Project, and author of “A Covert Action” will be joined by Thomas Rid, Professor of Strategic Studies, Johns Hopkins University and author of “Active Measures: The Secret History of Disinformation and Political Warfare,” as well as Heather Conley, Senior Vice President for Europe, Eurasia, and the Arctic at CSIS, and author of “The Kremlin Playbook” and “Kremlin Playbook 2.”
This event is made possible by general support to the Center for Strategic & International Studies.
