Online Event: The Global Economic Impact of Covid-19 on Women

Wednesday, June 24, 2020 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies for a Smart Women, Smart Power panel conversation with Jennifer Klein, Chief Strategy and Policy Officer of TIME’S UP, Rakeen Mabud, Director of Research and Strategy of TIME'S UP, and Rachel Vogelstein, Douglas Dillon Senior Fellow and Director of the Women and Foreign Policy program at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). They will discuss how Covid-19 is having a disproportionate effect on women around the world, and how response efforts and policies need to incorporate a whole of society approach.

Ms. Klein develops and directs TIME’S UP’s strategy and advocacy across public policy, private sector, and culture change work. Previously, Ms. Klein was a Senior Advisor on Women’s Issues for the 2016 Clinton presidential campaign. She also served in the Obama administration as Deputy and Senior Advisor in the Office of Global Women’s Issues.

Ms. Mabud is responsible for the development of a strategic research agenda for TIME'S UP. She previously spent three years at the Roosevelt Institute where she worked as a fellow and program director of Roosevelt's 21st Century Economy and Economic Inclusion programs. She also served in the Obama administration, working on domestic economic policy issues in the Treasury Department.

Ms. Vogelstein writes frequently on some of the most important issues facing women globally, from economic empowerment to child marriage. She is a professor of gender and U.S. foreign policy at Georgetown Law School. She previously served on the White House Council on Women and Girls and served as a top official in the Office of Global Women's Issues at the U.S. Department of State.

This event is made possible through support from Citi.
