U.S. security depends on our country’s leadership in new and emerging technologies. The intelligence community has an important role to play in fostering innovation, but it can be constrained by secrecy, compartmentalization, and a risk-averse culture. In this event, Representative Jim Himes (D-CT), Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Subcommittee on Strategic Technologies and Advanced Research (STAR) will discuss the findings of the Subcommittee’s recent report on how the U.S. government can help promote innovation in the intelligence community. This event is part of a larger CSIS research effort to reconnect Silicon Valley entrepreneurship and national security innovation.

This event is made possible by general contributions to CSIS
